About myPHPsim
myPHPsim is a small business dedicated to providing simple and economical solutions to sim gamers who are looking to expand their game or make administration a little easier.
myPHPsim is owned and operated by Jennie Ruff, a 22 year old student located in Washington D.C. and a self-taught PHP programmer. She specialized in simple, innovative designs for attractive yet efficient web sites and scripts.
Jennie grew up in Salt Lake City, UT and has a strong background of both real life and simulated horse experience. She is currently owned by Rivet, an 19 year old Appendix Quarter Horse who lives and works as a hippo-therapy and equine-assisted-psychotherapy horse in northern Utah. She also owns and operates one of the internet's leading horse and dog simulations, Impulsion Sim Game, which she designed and programmed.
What is a “sim” game?
A sim(ulated) game is an online club in which players own, show, breed and care for pretend horses, dogs or other animals based on real life practices and values. These games provides an avenue for individuals to live out their dreams, regardless of their location, finances, or experience. Simulations teach people of all ages about animals and their care while also providing a place for people to connect over a common factor - their love of animals. Many games also introduce an online design element, and many players learn web and graphic design.
Why PHP?
Many of the largest horse and dog simulations like Howrse, Ponybox, and Ludus Equinus are programmed in PHP. Although smaller games may not require a content management system that utilizes a database, many small games have decided to incorporate them to make management faster, smoother and more uniform. Integrating php scripts gives a game a professional, polished feel and makes it possible for busy game owners to keep their games active without sacrificing quality. PHP is commonly supported by webhosts, designed to work with MySQL databases, and easy to learn making it ideal for usage by game owners who need a simple and efficient solution.
